One of the most common questions we receive is:
"Do you provide the alcohol too?"
It's a great question, and the answer helps explain some of Arizona's liquor laws and how they impact events.
While we love making the beverage portion of your event easy and stress-free, Arizona has very specific regulations regarding the purchase, possession, sale, and service of alcohol. Understanding these guidelines upfront can help your event run smoothly and ensure everyone stays compliant.
As a mobile bartending and beverage service company, Liquid Caterers does not hold a liquor license that allows us to purchase and resell alcohol for private events.
In Arizona, businesses must hold the appropriate liquor license to legally purchase alcohol for resale or include it as part of an event package. The Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control (DLLC) regulates who may purchase, possess, sell, and serve alcohol.
These regulations create accountability throughout the alcohol supply chain by ensuring there is a clearly licensed and regulated party responsible for the purchase and service of alcohol. Licensed establishments must meet specific requirements related to compliance, insurance, training, and record keeping.
This isn't unique to Liquid Caterers. Most mobile bartending companies in Arizona operate under the same regulations and cannot legally purchase and resell alcohol for private events. The liquor licenses many people are familiar with are generally held by brick-and-mortar businesses such as bars, restaurants, hotels, breweries, wineries, and certain event venues.
For most private events, the client purchases the alcohol while we provide the professional bartenders, mixers, garnishes, equipment, bar setups, and expertise needed to create an exceptional guest experience.
In many cases, this actually benefits the client. Purchasing alcohol directly gives hosts complete control over brands and budget while avoiding the markups often associated with all-inclusive beverage packages
The good news? We make the process easy by providing detailed shopping lists based on your guest count, menu selections, and event duration. You'll know exactly what to buy and how much you'll need, helping minimize both overspending and waste. We also provide an add-on service to order, pick-up and delivery alcohol for our clients. All they do is pay the liquor distributor directly.
Many private events do not require a special event liquor license.
However, there are situations where a special event liquor license may be necessary, including certain public events, fundraisers, festivals, charity events, ticketed events, or events where alcohol is being sold rather than simply provided to invited guests. Arizona's Series 15 Special Event License is commonly used for these situations.
Some examples where a special event liquor license may be required include:
The requirements vary based on the event type, location, organization hosting the event, and whether alcohol is being sold. Certain nonprofit organizations, government entities, and political organizations may qualify for Series 15 licenses.
If your event may require a special event liquor license, don't worry. We work with experienced professionals who specialize in navigating the application process and can connect you with the right resources.
For most private weddings, birthday parties, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations where the host purchases the alcohol and provides it to invited guests, a special event liquor license is not necessary.
That said, every event is unique. Venue rules, guest access, admission fees, sponsorships, and other factors can affect licensing requirements. If there's ever a question, we recommend discussing your specific event with a liquor licensing professional.
While we do not provide the alcohol itself, our bartenders are trained professionals who understand responsible alcohol service.
Our bartending team carries Arizona-approved Title 4 training certification, which educates servers on:

Professional bartending is about much more than pouring drinks.

Hiring trained bartenders can significantly reduce risk compared to self-service alcohol stations or relying on untrained volunteers.
Even if an event complies with state liquor laws, venues often have their own requirements.
Many venues require:
We regularly work with venues throughout Arizona and can help ensure beverage service aligns with their requirements.
Arizona liquor laws are designed to protect guests, hosts, venues, and service providers. While the regulations can seem complicated, the key takeaway is simple:
